Surrogacy is a beautiful journey for both intended parents (IPs) and gestational carriers. At Fertility Source Companies, we make the surrogacy process as straightforward and positive as possible, so new parents can focus on what matters most — the birth of their baby.
At Fertility Source Companies, we’re dedicated to finding ideal matches and getting to know all parties involved on a personal level. We thoroughly screen our surrogates before accepting them into our program, so IPs can rest easy knowing their surrogate is physically, mentally, and emotionally prepared for the journey. We work within many Southern California cities, including Los Angeles, Irvine, San Diego, Anaheim, and more.
“Thanks so much for your help on things. You rock. I appreciate all you have been doing for this process”

Our case managers will help you find a great match, coordinate medical appointments, and act as an advocate for both you and your surrogate. From providing emotional support to referring to reproductive attorneys, our team has you covered from start to finish.
Surrogacy Laws in Southern California
The state of California is a great place for surrogacy as it has some of the most progressive reproductive laws in the nation. Southern California protects the rights of IPs and surrogates alike, making it simple for parentage to be established for children born through surrogacy.
Surrogate Costs & Fees in Southern California
The total cost depends on various factors, like surrogacy agency fees, base pay for the surrogate, monthly miscellaneous expenses, medical expenses, insurance, attorney fees, and other sundries. The base pay in Southern California for first-time surrogates is $55,000.
How Surrogates Are Screened in Southern California
Surrogates go through an in-depth screening process to ensure they’re physically, mentally, and emotionally ready to carry and deliver a baby for someone else. Following the strict standards set forth by the assisted reproductive community, the screening process includes a comprehensive psychological assessment, complete medical examination, extensive laboratory testing, background check, and personal history assessment.
Surrogacy FAQs for Intended Parents
In traditional surrogacy, the surrogate’s own eggs are fertilized via artificial insemination, making her both the carrier and a biological parent. In gestational surrogacy, the carrier is not biologically related to the child. The egg and the sperm are collected from the intended parents or a separate, egg donor. Most surrogacy agencies, including Fertility Source Companies, only handle gestational surrogacies, as there is less legal risk involved for the IPs, as well as fewer emotional complexities for everyone involved.
The longevity of the surrogacy process depends on how long it takes to find a qualified surrogate mother. Granted your carrier becomes pregnant from their first embryo transfer, the whole process generally takes about a year and a half.
During the surrogacy journey, many intended parents and their surrogates develop close bonds, but this isn’t a requirement. Some IPs prefer a more formal relationship with their surrogate, while others involve them in the child’s life after birth. The level of involvement is up to you, but you should discuss any expectations and boundaries before the surrogacy process begins to ensure everyone is on the same page.
Are you considering becoming a surrogate in Southern California? If so, welcome — you’ve come to the right place! At Fertility Source Companies, we’re dedicated to supporting you through each step of this incredibly rewarding journey. Why Become a Surrogate in Southern California
There are many reasons why women decide to become surrogates. As parents themselves, they understand how beautiful it is to have a child, and they want to give that to someone who wouldn’t be able to experience this joy without some extra help. Additionally, surrogates are generously compensated for their time and effort, especially in high-demand areas like Southern California.
Surrogate Requirements in Southern California
At Fertility Source Companies, our surrogacy requirements are in accordance with the recommended standards set forth by the assisted reproduction community. We uphold these standards not just in Southern California, but the entire United States. Some important requirements include:
Being between the ages of 21 to 43 years old
Having delivered at least one child that is currently being raised by the surrogate candidate
Having a history of past pregnancies without complications
Being in good overall health (e.g., being a non-smoker, having a healthy BMI, etc.)
The surrogacy process starts with filling out an application. Then, our surrogacy coordinators review it to determine your eligibility. Once approved, we’ll call you to discuss your application in greater detail as well as request and review your pregnancy records. After this, we’ll conduct a thorough assessment of your mental health, your household, and your social history.
After you’ve cleared each screening, we’ll put you into our database so you can match with your intended parents. If an IP shows interest in your profile, we’ll arrange a meeting for you to meet to ensure you’re a great match. If all goes well, we’ll schedule a complete physical evaluation at the intended parent’s fertility clinic of choice and begin guiding you through the legal process.
Finally, you'll be impregnated via in vitro fertilization (IVF) using an embryo created from the intended parents' eggs and sperm or those of a donor. Once pregnant, you’ll progress through the process normally, carrying the baby for nine beautiful months until you deliver it for the IPs.
Surrogacy Pay & Compensation in Southern California
Surrogates are generously compensated for the incredible gift they bring into the world. Compensation can vary depending on whether you’ve been a surrogate before, but at Fertility Source Companies, surrogates in Southern California are compensated with a base fee of $55,000.
