Not only are there plenty of donors in the area, but Southern California is also home to many reputable fertility clinics knowledgeable in all aspects of third-party reproduction. From Los Angeles to San Diego, Long Beach, Irvine, Anaheim, and beyond, Southern California is an ideal location for building your family via egg donation.
Choosing an Egg Donor in Southern California
Choosing the right egg donor is important, and Fertility Source Companies is here to ensure you find a great match. We thoroughly screen our diverse selection of candidates, so all you have to do is determine your preferences in terms of physical appearance, personality, and medical history. You’ll get access to our extensive egg donor database to find a donor that meets your unique specifications.
Many factors go into how much using an egg donor in Southern California costs, including agency fees, egg donor compensation, egg donor expenses, and optional medical procedure coverage. If you have any questions, we’d be happy to walk you through the process.
How Egg Donors Are Screened in Southern California
At Fertility Source Companies, we require potential egg donors to undergo multiple forms of stringent screenings and background checks. Before being added to our database, potential egg donors must undergo:
A lifestyle evaluation
A criminal background check
A personality profile
An overview of the donor's commitment level
A FDA compliance check
A recent pap smear
Once matched, egg donors have to undergo several other screenings, all of which are completed at the intended parent’s fertility clinic. These include:
A complete physical exam
A blood test to screen for drug use or specific health disorders
A mental health screening (The Donor Source facilities upon match)
The entire egg donation process can take multiple months, but it ultimately depends on your clinic’s schedule. This allows time for egg donor testing, synchronization of cycles, and medication stimulation.
If the egg donor you’re interested in is already matched with another IP, we can help you try and secure them for their next cycle. If something comes up and they decide not to donate or your clinic doesn’t approve them, you won’t be obligated to move forward with them.
The amount of contact between you and your egg donor is up to both of your preferences. Some intended parents and egg donors choose to remain anonymous, but others choose to meet each other. During the matching process, we take the preferences of both intended parents and egg donors into account to facilitate a match where both parties have similar expectations about contact.
Egg donation centers are looking for quality candidates like you! Becoming an egg donor allows you to give back while also being financially compensated — a true win-win. Whether you live in Los Angeles, San Diego, Long Beach, or anywhere else in Southern California, Fertility Source Companies can help you navigate the egg donation process.
Why Become an Egg Donor in Southern California
There are many reasons why an individual may choose to become an egg donor in Southern California. Being able to help someone grow their family is a gift in itself, but egg donors are also compensated for their time and effort. Plus, they receive a no-cost comprehensive health exam.
Egg Donor Requirements in Southern California
At Fertility Source Companies, we follow strict standards set forth by the assisted reproductive community, including the Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research within the US Food and Drug Administration, which governs the use of donated human cells or tissues. Other egg donor requirements are based on the guidelines outlined by the American Society for Reproductive Medicine and the Society for Assisted Reproductive Technology.
The egg donation process begins with a privacy-protected online intake application featuring questions regarding your medical, social, sexual, and family history. Once our case managers receive your application, they’ll review it and determine your eligibility.
If you’re accepted as an egg donor, we’ll set up a mandatory new donor consultation to go through the entire process in detail. We’ll also create your egg donor profile to upload into our secure database so IPs can view it. Once selected, you’ll undergo a psychological evaluation, a meeting with a reproductive attorney to sign a donor contract, and a full medical evaluation.
Next, your fertility clinic will synchronize your cycle with the cycle of the recipient, using birth control and Lupron, a self-injectable medication that regulates ovulation. After synchronization, you’ll take medication to stimulate ovarian activity. You’ll administer the medication on a set schedule for about ten days while your clinic monitors your egg follicles.
After this, you’ll get what’s called a “trigger” shot. This final injection preps your ovaries and egg follicles for retrieval and occurs about 34 hours before your scheduled procedure. During the egg retrieval procedure, you’ll be sedated while a doctor uses a transvaginal ultrasound to guide a thin aspirating needle to your ovaries to collect the mature eggs. The procedure takes about 30 minutes, and most donors return to their regular activities the following day. Once the process is complete, you’ll receive your financial compensation in the mail.
Egg Donor Pay & Compensation in Southern California
Donor compensation depends on various factors, including whether or not you have donated your eggs before, your location, and certain high-demand characteristics. First-time donors can expect to be paid $8,000.

Egg Donor FAQs
At Fertility Source Companies, we require our egg donors to be between the ages of 21-29. This age range offers the best chances of retrieving viable eggs.
The egg donation process does not deplete your natural egg supply. In fact, a woman’s ovaries typically contain more eggs than are used during a single menstrual cycle, and you would have naturally lost the donated eggs anyway. If you wish to have children in the future, you don’t have to worry about egg donation impacting your long-term fertility.
The retrieval process is typically painless, but you may experience some cramping and mild discomfort for one to two days afterward. This discomfort can be managed with over-the-counter medications, but if you have any concerns, contact your clinic.
