  • Submission of history of medical conditions (including pregnancy history)
  • Testing and screening (usually takes two to four weeks)
  • A comprehensive evaluation of you and your partner (if applicable), including a criminal background check and mental health evaluation
  • Selection and matching
  • Review the IPs’ profiles to decide if you want to meet with them
  • A match meeting
  • The final decision on working with a specific IP/couple
  • Comprehensive physical exam at the IP’s fertility clinic 
  • Consultation with an assigned attorney to review and finalize the surrogacy contract
  • Fertility medication self-injections to prepare the body for pregnancy 
  • Embryo transfer at IP’s fertility clinic
  • Blood tests and ultrasound to confirm pregnancy
  • Visit with your OB/GYN doctor for pregnancy checkups and delivery

Surrogacy Pay & Compensation in Illinois

Surrogate pay in Illinois is approximately $50,000 for the base pay, which compensates surrogates for their time and effort, and helps cover living expenses. Once the baby’s fetal heart rate is noted, compensation will begin, dispersed in monthly installment payments.
