Egg Donor Costs & Fees in Florida

When pondering egg donation in Florida, you need to educate yourself about your various financial responsibilities. These costs are not guaranteed, as you’ll have to account for factors like your geographic location and any add-on services, such as genetic or blood screenings. Some egg donors may also be in higher demand, increasing their compensation requests. Generally, you can expect to pay about $8,000 on average, while an additional $8,500 goes to the agency fee. Then, there are out-of-pocket costs, including legal retainers and donor travel fees, boosting your bottom line. Learn about egg donor costs and fees in Florida.

  • A full physical exam
  • A blood test to evaluate drug use or any health concerns
  • A lifestyle assessment

Egg Donation FAQs for Intended Parents

As intended parents can allocate their own “Egg Donor Wanted” materials, why should they work with an egg donor agency?

Truthfully, the old-fashioned method of distributing your own “Egg Donor Wanted” ads just increases the difficulty in screening high-quality donors, those with a viable egg supply. However, doing business with a professional egg donor agency, like Fertility Source Companies, may help IPs feel more confident and comfortable. As all potential donors must meet rigorous physical and mental screenings, you’ll know that they’re properly motivated, and likely to complete the process.

What factors may influence intended parents when choosing potential egg donors?

IPs may have their respective preferences and concerns. However, the egg donation process basically comes down to such elements as the candidate's physical aspects, personality characteristics, and a full medical/hereditary history.

What can I expect in financial terms when developing my egg donation budget?

It’s a good idea for intended parents to develop a budget for egg donation. In general, you’ll be looking at an average price tag of about $16,500, which includes the egg donor fees and agency costs. Please note that this allotment does not account for several necessary out-of-pocket costs, like cycle medication and travel fees.

The Egg Donation Process

To fully understand the egg donation process, IPs should educate themselves about the multiple stages. You can expect the following:

  • Egg donors must self-inject hormonal medication, generally once per day, for around 12 days, as this should stimulate the formation of multiple eggs in one ovulation cycle.
  • Blood and ultrasound screenings are conducted, to ensure eggs have sufficiently matured before being retrieved.
  • Performed on an outpatient basis, egg retrieval involves the insertion of a thin needle, guided by an ultrasound probe, to gently remove donor eggs from the small fluid-filled sacs, known as ovarian follicles.
  • For a 30-minute period, donors will be sedated, in a semi-conscious state, to make the egg retrieval process painless.

Egg Donor Pay & Compensation in Florida

An egg donor is performing an invaluable service, helping those in need to realize their dreams of becoming parents. To accomplish this, eligible women willingly sacrifice their time, personal lives, and finances. For these reasons, at Fertility Source Companies, we take great care to fairly compensate our egg donors. For instance, first-time donors earn a base payment, generally dependent on components like location, which typically ranges from $5,500 to $8,000. Those who have previously donated eggs receive an increase of $500 to $1,000. Learn more about egg donor compensation and pay in Florida.

Egg Donor FAQs

Am I limited in regard to how many egg donation rounds are permitted?

Yes. Currently, guidelines allow eligible women to donate their eggs no more than six times. This requirement was established by the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM), a leading reproductive medicine authority.

For qualifying candidates, is working or attending school allowed during the egg donation process?

Yes. Once a woman has started the donation process, they are allowed to continue working or attend school. Typically, this is permitted throughout most of the stages involved, although you may have to skip a day or two for the egg retrieval stage.

Should I expect any side effects or risks with egg donation?

Egg donation may have a unique, benevolent end result, but it’s still a medical procedure. Therefore, side effects may occur, although they’re rarely serious. Key to the process is the need for women to self-inject hormone injections, which may cause such symptoms as swelling breast tenderness, moodiness, and abdominal cramps. Your doctor will thoroughly describe all likely symptoms and risk factors before donation.
