Fertility SOURCE Companies Exhibits at the International LGBT Family Building Event in Barcelona, Spain
The Second European Conference on LGBT Families welcomes almost 1000 people from 23 different European countries.
Irvine, California - May 31, 2012 - Fertility SOURCE Companies’ (The Donor SOURCE and The Surrogacy SOURCE) International Development Liaison, Jamie Williams exhibited at the groundbreaking Second European Meeting of LGBT Families in Barcelona, Spain alongside families and industry experts from over 20 countries. The conference featured an elaborate agenda, covering a wide ranging selection of topics from real-world parenting experiences to international legal issues and civil rights and social equality for the LGBT community.
Among the event highlights was the surrogacy seminar on ‘European Men Having Babies’. There has been an increasing desire to become parents among gay European couples. However, resources about the topic are often difficult, and sometimes impossible, to find. Since 2005, The ‘Men Having Babies’ seminar has helped hundreds of men navigate the complicated road to parenting through surrogacy.

Intended Parents’ hopes and dreams seem to be just out of reach sometimes. When they are told they are unable to create their Family on their own and need assistance, they may start researching how to put together a “team” who can help them reach their goal. The key players of their “team” may include any of the following, an agency, a surrogate, an egg donor, a sperm donor a fertility center, and a third party reproduction attorney. Each party needed plays a vital role during this amazing journey of Family creation.
The fertility center will be the Intended Parents’ medical resource. The fertility doctor and their team will help determine what the best route is for the creation of the embryo to be used. The Intended Parents will go through extensive testing to determine if they are in the need of a sperm donor, egg donor, and/or a surrogate. Once they have the equation needed, they can begin their search for the necessary components. The fertility center will then coordinate the cycle for the embryo transfer.
The parents may begin researching for an agency familiar with their needs of egg/sperm donation and/or surrogacy. The agency’s role during this process is to provide optimal support and guidance through each step, and offer referrals to professionals when needed. Most times, the agency is the only “constant” through the journey. The agency will typically stay with the parents and their surrogate from the beginning through delivery.
The surrogate is an amazing part of the team. She is someone who understands the struggles of Intended Parents. She knows the joys of having children and thinks everyone deserves a chance at that joy. She is willing to enter a world of many doctor appointments, medications, procedures, and pregnancy to be able to give her Intended Parents the gift of life, which comes so easy to her.
An attorney well versed in Third Party Reproduction is also needed for the process. The Intended Parents’ attorney will draft a legal agreement between the Intended Parents and their surrogate. The surrogate will also have legal representation, separate from the Intended Parents. Once the legal agreement in place, the fertility center will be given clearance to begin the medical cycle and medications will begin. The attorney will also draft paperwork for the establishment of parentage for the child(ren) born.
With all the key players working together, Intended Parents’ hopes and dreams of reaching their goal of having a Family becomes reality. Agency’s, fertility centers, attorneys and all other professionals involved, are passionate about their field and cooperate to be successful with the “Pathway to Parenthood”.
