Australia: Surrogacy laws pass Lower House

Surrogacy arrangements are set to gain legal standing in New South Wales after legislation passed the Lower House.

The legislation allows for altruistic arrangements and enables couples of a child obtained through a surrogate mother to be granted parental rights.

The bill also sets age limits for birth mothers.
