Childless couples face jail as part of international baby ban

CHILDLESS couples face two years in jail or a hefty fine if they break new laws banning them from going overseas to use a surrogate mother.

In a move that has outraged would-be parents – whose only option left for starting a family is to travel to countries like India or the US to pay a surrogate mother – the NSW Government has extended the ban on commercial surrogacy to arrangements made overseas.

Chris Daughtry and His Wife Welcome Fraternal Twins Through Gestational Surrogacy

Chris Daughtry and his wife Deanna welcomed fraternal twins, who were conceived through gestational surrogacy, Wednesday morning, according to the singer’s website.

“Our family is overwhelmed with joy by these two precious gifts from God,” Daughtry said. “The babies are both healthy and resting. Thanks to everyone for their love and prayers.”

Australia: Surrogacy laws pass Lower House

Surrogacy arrangements are set to gain legal standing in New South Wales after legislation passed the Lower House.

The legislation allows for altruistic arrangements and enables couples of a child obtained through a surrogate mother to be granted parental rights.

The bill also sets age limits for birth mothers.

Ricky Martin credits twin boys through surrogacy for revealing his sexuality

Ricky Martin has revealed that he came out about his sexuality because of his twin boys.

Singer Ricky, 38, recently opened up to talkshow host Oprah Winfrey, inviting her into his home and letting the cameras follow him and his twin boys Matteo and Valentino around.

Ricky spoke openly with Oprah in his tell all interview about why he decided to confirm his homosexuality to the world, saying his children, who were born by surrogacy in 2008, are the most important thing in to him.

“When I was holding them in my arms I was like ‘What? Am I going to teach them how to lie?” That was my blessing right there. Then, when I was holding my children, I said “Okay, it’s time to tell the world”.

ASRM: Sex makes a difference in cardiovascular disease risk

Reproductive professionals know all too well that reproductive treatment has far-reaching implications. During the Tuesday morning Plenary Session, they got a glimpse of how those treatments play a role in cardiovascular disease in men and women. Virginia Miller, Ph.D., M.B.A., Professor of Surgery and Physiology at the College of Medicine, Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN, presented “Sex Differences in Cardiovascular Disease.”
